Monday Mindset Mastery: How to Own This Work Week
Turn Mondays into launch pads for productive work weeks
When your alarm clock goes off on Monday, you have a choice:
Let the week drag you around, hoping you find your footing at some point.
OR
Seize that first moment awake, and set the tone for how the rest of your week, and ultimately your life, will play out.
We’ve spoken about the power of self-assessment and the necessity of diving headfirst into discomfort, but let’s get specific about Mondays.
This day can springboard you into purposeful action or a puddle of excuses.
I’ve chosen the springboard, and that choice could change your life for the better forever as well.
1. Break the Weekend Mindset—Fast
Mondays don’t need a long, drawn-out warm-up period.
Instead, hit the ground running:
1. Wake Up And Do What You Need to Do: The first hour sets the day’s trajectory. Use it to prep your mind—meditate, journal, review your goals, get up, get dressed, grab breakfast, and just get yourself in motion.
2. Move Your Body: A quick workout or walk banishes the weekend fog and fires up your energy. I’ve been stretching at the minimum, a foam roller session can do wonders for a tired mind.
I’ll be doubling down on these tactics because it’s too easy to waste half of Monday in “transition mode” if you’re not vigilant.
2. Name Your Targets for the Week
Clarity is power.
You’re going to die, so live in a manner that has you doing what you want to do before that final day. I’ve said it before and directly addressed it here, “Near Death Experiences” but it’s worth a Monday reminder:
You will die. What do you want to do before then? Start creating daily habits that will help you achieve your goal.
Identify 3 Key Wins: Pick 3 areas you can show growth in. Mind, Body, Spirit it doesn’t matter, what three things can you do today that will build momentum for the entire week?
Write these wins down, and put them somewhere you can see them every day—sticky note on your laptop, pinned in your notes app, or taped to your gym mirror.
My Three:
Stay Sober
Live with Truth
Build my Mind and Body Stronger
3. Ditch the Excuses and Just Start
Nothing kills momentum faster than overthinking.
Maybe you had a rough weekend or are battling personal doubts. That's fine, but as an adult, it’s time to acknowledge your feelings and move on.
In “Deion Sanders & Irrational Confidence,” I spoke about how self-doubt doesn’t vanish until you prove that you can deliver results. Action trumps anxiety every single time, so the way you defeat your insecurities is by going out and doing the damn thing with them in your mind.
Don’t wait for “motivation”—it’s fleeting.
Discipline is consistent and built through action, so go out and do what you must.
The Monday Reset
Monday isn’t just a day on the calendar—it’s the launch pad for your entire week.
Make it count.
By Tuesday, you want to have one massive win under your belt—something that sets a confident, purposeful tone for everything that follows.
Don’t let Monday slip into neutral.
